The Book of Faith is an initiative of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in order to increase biblical literacy and fluency for the sake of the world. It began as a memorial from the North Carolina Synod in 2005. In the memorial, the ELCA was asked to develop an "ongoing effort to address issues surrounding the authority of Scripture."
